As humans we seek fulfillment in a plethora of concepts: be it mental or physical strength, love, or nature. On their second album „Ascension“, Thuringian black-metal-act KANKAR presents their perspective on these elemental means and motivations of individual growth in catchy yet forceful black-metal-anthems.

The central theme of „Ascension“ revolves around empowering the untapped potential within each individual. Isolated from the masses, every single human being has the capacity to transcend its limits and reach a moral state that can – at least – be described as acceptable. Musically, the album is divided into two distinctive auras, enriching and sophisticating the band’s established sonic palette with new colors: "Morgensonne" (morning sun) offers a ripping black'n’roll-experience, while "Abendsonne" (evening sun) explores melodic black metal.
